Southwest California Businesses at State Capitol Promoting Priorities

Leaders from the Southwest California business community met in Sacramento at the State Capitol with four area state legislators that represent the region. Business leaders discussed legislative priorities such as workplace flexibility, lifting regulations on businesses, and transportation infrastructure investments. Businesses urged legislators to continue supporting the business community throughout the region.

“We are very lucky to have business friendly legislators in Sacramento who take the time to listen to our priorities and show great support for the wide range of business related issues in our region,” stated Greg Morrison, Chair of the Southwest California Legislative Council. “They listened to our concerns and ideas and we all discussed opportunities for possible partnerships on legislation that will have a positive impact on our business community,” continued Morrison.

Businesses met with Assembly Members Kevin Jeffries and John J. Benoit along with State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth and staff members from State Senator Jim Battin’s office. Businesses also discussed its positions on over 25 different pieces of legislation that it is tracking in 2008, including other transportation related issues and the continuing need for further workers’ compensation reforms. The trip concluded with a breakfast and speech by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
